Ready or Not :-P

What I woke up to this morning:

And it hasn't stopped.  There's now about 3 inches of slushy, wet snow out there.

I am *not* ready for this.  ::whinge::  So I guess it's a good thing it's not sticking around.   It's not really all that cold out now (mid-30sF, about 3C) - just enough to make it really slippery to drive.  I had to take Miss M to dance class this morning (I do that a lot  >.<).  And as not fun to drive in as it is, it sure made the trees look like something on a Christmas card.   Mr. L took his camera out and got some pics while we were gone.

That's the oak tree you can see from the first picture.

And this crab apple is right by the entrance to our barn, and for the past couple of days has been full of robins and cedar waxwings eating the fruit.

Coming home in this was a bit scary.  I think I'm going to have to get a new car.  My beloved 10 1/2 year old silver Honda Accord has about 186,000 miles on it, and while it's running good now, it needs new tires and is overdue for regular maintenance (and, with this many miles on it, there's always something that needs repaired).  I'm not sure I want to take it through another winter, but I'm not real keen on car shopping.  Bleh.

But, if the weather is going to pretend it's winter already, I guess it's time to get out my woolens, put the osso bucco on the stove to braise, a loaf of soda bread in the oven and build a fire in the living room fireplace.  Just don't anyone start with the Christmas carols yet, and I'll be fine.  ::g::

LOL - it's not a classic Beetle, it's a NEW Beetle, namely, a Golf engine in a funny shell. It's our second, the first having kept us whole in a major crash that destroyed it, six months into its life. The crash was not our fault, I hasten to add.

Current Beetle is blue, scratched, dented, filthy, sports a roof rack, and despite what my sister says, is perfectly adequate for our family needs except when we have visitors - only 4 seat belts. Mr D thinks it has style. I think it has character. It would be hard to change to something more boring, though I suppose we will have to one day.
