Ready or Not :-P

What I woke up to this morning:

And it hasn't stopped.  There's now about 3 inches of slushy, wet snow out there.

I am *not* ready for this.  ::whinge::  So I guess it's a good thing it's not sticking around.   It's not really all that cold out now (mid-30sF, about 3C) - just enough to make it really slippery to drive.  I had to take Miss M to dance class this morning (I do that a lot  >.<).  And as not fun to drive in as it is, it sure made the trees look like something on a Christmas card.   Mr. L took his camera out and got some pics while we were gone.

That's the oak tree you can see from the first picture.

And this crab apple is right by the entrance to our barn, and for the past couple of days has been full of robins and cedar waxwings eating the fruit.

Coming home in this was a bit scary.  I think I'm going to have to get a new car.  My beloved 10 1/2 year old silver Honda Accord has about 186,000 miles on it, and while it's running good now, it needs new tires and is overdue for regular maintenance (and, with this many miles on it, there's always something that needs repaired).  I'm not sure I want to take it through another winter, but I'm not real keen on car shopping.  Bleh.

But, if the weather is going to pretend it's winter already, I guess it's time to get out my woolens, put the osso bucco on the stove to braise, a loaf of soda bread in the oven and build a fire in the living room fireplace.  Just don't anyone start with the Christmas carols yet, and I'll be fine.  ::g::

I agree with kellychambliss, Mr. L. could turn professional. Being a scientist doesn't have to stop him. My own Lord Snowdon spent his working life among computer and IT consultants, and now that he's sold his company he retrains as a photographer. If an IT nerd can do it, a scientist can.

And that pic with the crab apples could make a marvellous Christmas card - saves you buying them. Photoprints are cheaper - I know, we just selected ours from Lord S's work.

I keep telling Mr. L that he should put up a web site/virtual gallery, but he's too modest to do so. Photography is what he does to relax, and he's as big a nerd as I am about the science, so I don't see him giving that up (though I don't see why he couldn't sell his photos on the web :-) ).

I'd *love* to see some of Lord Snowdon's work - does he have a web site? If not, you should post a pic or two. ::g::

that pic with the crab apples could make a marvellous Christmas card I agree! Something from Mr. L's work is our Christmas card most years, so I should tell him to get his tush in gear and pic something, so he has time to get the printing done (he's a control freak, so he does it himself).
