Well, clearly you're a More Real Snape than I am! I turned out to be a Hermione Granger - ISTJ. Funny thing is, on official tests I'm an INTJ, too. Bit borderline, I guess.

Or just an insufferable know-it-all.

I think it all depends on how the questions are phrased, myself. :-)

P.S. I'd rather be an insufferable know-it-all than an even more insufferable know-nothing! ::g::

Should I be alarmed? Or should I start making Horcruxes?

I'd tamp down on that Horcrux impulse if I were you . . . maybe you can get a nice Naga instead? XD

I'm always fascinated by these tests! A couple years ago, someone on my flist, dorrie6, conducted a Myers-Briggs poll, and the respondents were predominantly "INxx," with a significant number of "ENxx"s mixed in. Interesting, hm? M.

My first thought upon reading that your characterization was 'Albus Dumbledore is ethical?!!?!?' (Not to cast aspersions on you, Maggie dear ::g::) Not being much of a psychology buff, I've never paid much attention to these things nor to what they mean. I assume the 'I's are introverted personalities and 'E's are extroverts?

*smile* I think it's one of those times when "ethical" means thinking about it, rather than getting it right.

The E/I and T/F are pretty straightforward, extrovert/introvert and thinking-rational/feeling-emotional--it's the other two that confuse me. So far as I understand it, the N/S means you look for answers intuitive-inside the self/sensing-out in the world, and the J/P means you want things judging-orderly/perceiving-flexible. But that's grossly reductive, I'm sure. My experience is that it's the combination of letters that make for really distinctive personality traits--TJs run a tight meeting and don't have patience for fools, for example, or INs hang out in online fandom. :) M.

This is a fun quiz. I've taken it a few times before, and I always end up either INTJ (Snape) or ISTJ (Hermione). These are the same results I get when I take the full Myers-Briggs (which I sometimes do for fun when one of our psych profs gives it to his class). In my younger years, I was always and invariably INTJ; in the last few years, I've edged more consistently toward ISTJ.

PS -- I'm not fully convinced by the character designations in the quiz; some make more sense than others. But they are all fun. My partner came out as Sirius Black (ENTP), but she almost always turns out an "I" on more formal quizzes, so this result seems a bit skewed. Otherwise, the quiz seems fairly accurate, at least in replicating M-B results.

I'm not fully convinced by the character designations in the quiz;

Me neither. For instance, I don't really see Minerva as much of an "E." But perhaps that's just projection.

As I said to Maggie above, I'm not much of a psych buff . . . in truth I have no clue about how they came up with the test, how valid a measure the questions asked are and how the answers are quantified (and what the standard deviation around each personality designation is . . . or even the non-standard deviation XD ). I have ha hard time taking anything like this seriously as science, but then, I'm biased. :-)

Our psych prof (the one I take the test from) doesn't feel that the Myers-Briggs is a very reliable indicator of personality; he says other tests are better and that most clinicians wouldn't take the M-B very seriously these days. I'm not sure of the rationale, though.

I guess that means that you are getting softer in your ascending years? (Or, perhaps, that you are knowing more.) ::ggg::

Oh you like that huh? Well how do you like this? According to David Keirsey, that type makes you the Mastermind, i.e., the quiet one who takes over when everything goes gaflooey and no one else seems to know what to do. =^) Yay you! ( I am the healer type actually, INFP )

It told me I'm Minerva. I very much don't believe it!

But this quiz does always make me smile when it goes around, at least. (:
