I have just scared my cats and my family with my shout of triumph and the dance around the room which is making me resemble my icon (except I'm covering more ground . . . 'Don't give up your day job,' cheeks my daughter).  And what could be the source of all of this jubilation?  SO glad you asked!   The snapelyholidays  has posted their reveals and I GUESSED ONE RIGHT!!!!!!!   Come out of hiding kellychambliss  -  *you* are the recipient of the THtDFMtFOO  ('Thank Heavens the Dunderhead Finally Managed to Figure One Out') Author Trophy!!!   ::busses both cheeks and sends dazed recipient back down to the audience clutching trophy::

I will confess that I, in my initial adoration of Right Nor Wrong, I had a few suspicions that the author might be you, but the complete silence on your part about a fic that I was certain you'd be admiring if it wasn't yours made me nearly certain that you had written it.  Then atdelphi  thought it might be someone she knew but I didn't, which made me second guess.  I figured she'd know better, because I really am horrible at figuring these things out, but it turns out I was right after all!  ::basks in glow of triumph, as it is certain to be short-lived::

Oh, and speaking of Delphi, she now can claim credit for the brilliant The Ballad of Filius Flitwick and Severus Snape. I didn't say much about this earlier as I was given the immense privilege of pretending to Beta it (I say pretending because there was really *nothing* that needed to be done other than praise it when I got the chance to read it).   But now that the reveals are out, I can shed my 'shouldn't comment on fics I've beta-ed' scruples to tell you that it's fabulous - a lovely glimpse of Severus and Filius, both perfectly characterized, at the beginnings of their relationship and their first year together.  Go read it if you haven't - you won't be disappointed.

*blushes* You were tremendous help, I'll have you know. And I was 100% wrong on Right Nor Wrong (I was guessing from a limited pool, based on the faact that the 'odder' requests often get triangled off in exchanges) but I was absolutely tickled to find out who the author really was.

I'm glad you think so, dearie. :-) I'll be happy to offer moral support on any future project that needs it!

I guessed both kellychambliss's AND atdelphi's! Go me! And OMG, "Ballad" was AMAZING. Gah.

Yay, you! I had suspicions that Found in the Moments Between the Search might be yours, but not enough of a vibe to be certain. Now I'm going to go through a phase of wondering if every Sirius/Severus fic might be yours! :-D

And Ballad was so outstanding that the moment I had it in my hot little hands I knew it was going to be the belle of the fest. Delphi's a genius!

Yay! I love the name of your award, because I can relate! Kelly and Delphi are the only authors I figured out amidst all the many stories and fests - I crashed and burned on the others, or was just utterly clueless. Now snapecase is running, and I've made a couple of guesses I'm keeping to myself, but mostly? I still haven't a clue.

It probably helps that I was so enchanted by The Ballad and Right nor Wrong, because I tend to zoom in and read more closely when I'm smitten, which might explain why certain attitudes or ways of phrasing would alert me. Or maybe I just got lucky. :)

Now hear the name of that award in Severus's sardonic voice and you'll see how it popped into my head. ::g::

And snapecase - holy cow, SNAPECASE!!!! Too much guh for words. Most of them are so outstanding, and I'll never be able to figure *any* of them out. But, I'm not stressing over it. That I got one right in over a year's worth of fic reading is good enough for me! :-D

Have you read the latest story posted at snapecase? I just finished it, and now I'm late for work and must dash like a dashing thing, but I urge you: GO. I'll have to comment later, but oh, it's marvelous. Every note perfectly struck. I would babble on, but I can't right now. Later, though. Babbling. My head is full of images. Severus, oh Severus. *eeks and runs*

I'm usually dreadful at guessing, unless there are some particularly distinctive features about a given author's writing. But sometimes, I get lucky just by noticing something like the fact that someone is conspicuously silent about a story I know they will have seen and that has a pairing or angle they would ordinarily enjoy. But with me, I think the tipoff to my stories often is the presence of MM/SS.

Well, I'm chuffed by everyone's comments, and I'm going to be hounding Delphi to find who she thought did write my story.

And I can't thank the Academy enough for my lovely award. I'd like to thank the ever-resourceful, witty and clever Lark, and Mrs. Faye my kindergarten teacher, who got me started on fiction by letting our class tell round-robin stories about Petey the Peppy Puppy, and Charles Dickens, for thinking up the name Pumblechook, and Mr Saznak, our high-school janitor who I'm sure I didn't appreciate nearly enough, and. . .oh, what's that? My 30 seconds are up and the band has begun to play? It'll be the hook next? Oh, okay. Well, thenn, I'll shut up now. Thank you, Lark!

It wasn't just the lovers and the deafening silence over such a brilliantly written fic - it was the POV. I'm beginning to think you have a voyeur kink. XD That is NOT a criticism, BTW. I *love* how you are able to inhabit so many different characters with such complete authority. Some day I am going to have to come and watch you on stage, because I suspect, based on this ability alone, that you are a tremendous actress.

::raises glass to Mrs. Faye, Petey the Peppy Puppy, Charles Dickens and Uncle Pumblechook, and Mr. Saznak, too:: Thank *you*, Kelly!!

I'm beginning to think you have a voyeur kink.

I do, yes! It shows up in most of the fics I write, HP and Star Trek, too. (I do assure you, though, that it doesn't bleed into RL /g/). But I do think you're right: some sort of mental voyeurism is the essence of writing and acting.

Some day I am going to have to come and watch you on stage

I wish you could! I'm strictly an amateur, with more enthusiasm than talent or technique, but I do love it. There's really no rush quite like it.
